PEG-6 caprylic/capric glycerides is a polyethylene glycol derived from a mixture of mono-, di-, and triglycerides of caprylic and capric acids, usually sourced from coconut oil. Caprylic triglyceride is the mixed triester of glycerin and caprylic and capric acids. It is made by first separating the fatty acids and the glycerol in coconut oil. This is done by hydrolyzing the coconut oil, which involves applying heat and pressure to the oil to split it apart.

Application

1. Can function as an emollient, with its fatty acid composition replenishing the skin's surface and preventing moisture loss. It is well-tolerated and gentle on the skin.
2. Acts as an effective emulsifier and emollient in cleansers and micellar water, effectively breaking down and removing sebum. Hence, it is widely utilized in various makeup remover products.
3. Serves as a non-ionic ingredient that delivers oil-free moisturization in hair care products.
4. Functions as a non-allergenic mild cleanser for hair products.
5. Can be employed as a secondary liquid surfactant in shampoos, contributing to good foam quality and a silky after-feel.
