Isocetyl Stearoyl Stearate CAS No.: 97338-28-8
Isocetyl Stearoyl Stearate is produced by chemical synthesis, usually by esterification of fatty acids from vegetable oils (such as stearic acid) with isocetyl alcohol. Isocetyl alcohol is a branched fatty alcohol that is derived from the processing of vegetable oils (such as palm oil, coconut oil or rapeseed oil). Therefore, Isocetyl Stearoyl Stearate can be considered an ingredient of natural origin.
Characteristics
1. Melting point: about 45-50°C.
2. Density: about 0.95 g/cm³.
3. Solubility: insoluble in water, but soluble in most organic solvents (such as ethanol, isopropanol and vegetable oils).
4. Stability: stable at room temperature, but may decompose at high temperature or under strong acid and alkali conditions.
Advantages
1. Efficient emulsification performance: It can help oily ingredients and water-based ingredients mix evenly to form a stable emulsion.
2. Good compatibility: It has good compatibility with other cosmetic and skin care ingredients and will not cause formula instability.
3. Mildness: It is gentle on the skin and suitable for sensitive skin.
Function

1. Emulsifier: helps oily ingredients and water-based ingredients mix to form a uniform lotion or cream.
2. Thickener: can increase product viscosity and improve texture.
3. Stabilizer: prevents ingredients in the formula from separating or deteriorating, and extends the shelf life of the product.
4. Emollient: provides nourishment and moisturizing effects to the skin.
5. Dispersant: helps active ingredients to be evenly dispersed in the formula.
Use

Cosmetics and skin care products:
1. Used in lotions, creams, conditioners and other formulations as emulsifiers and stabilizers.
2. Helps disperse and absorb active ingredients in the formulation (such as vitamins, sunscreens, etc.).
3. Provides a good skin feel and makes the product easier to apply.
