It imparts a soft and silky feel to the hair, making it easier to comb through. It possesses a positive charge which can help offset the negative charge from shampooing the hair and is a cheaper alternative to other conditioners. It does not suppress foam and can be used with anionic surfactants and also helps to build the viscosity of the formulation. It is generally used at a maximum concentration of 0.01%-5%.
